I Ran Before I Could Walk | Ep 28

podcast Nov 30, 2020

I remember the time I went to a senior lawyer for advice. I was struggling financially, and like it is said, half a day away from a disaster all the time.

I had spent tons of money on a big office, furniture, new desks, and so forth. Debts covered me, and the income wasn't couldn't cope with all those expenses.

You ran before you walked, the senior lawyer told me, and he was right. The thing is, if I had started smaller, I could've been more focused on profit, putting earnings into my genes.

Today's episode is about making the right investments in your law practice and focusing on those investments' revenue.

How To Avoid Being Broke After Going Through Law School | Ep 26

podcast Nov 09, 2020

I've recently talked to a close friend, a banker, and she told me something that shook me up a little bit. Her job at the bank is to decide whether the bank should grant a loan to someone or not.

She told me that from all businesspersons she deals with daily, those who struggle the most, the ones more stressed, are usually lawyers running a law practice.

Here is the thing, most divorce lawyers struggle in their law practices because they don't treat them as a business.

In today's episode, I want to talk about going through law school and not ending up being broke.

Run Your Law Practice Like A Business Not Like An Expensive Hobby | Ep 23

podcast Oct 19, 2020

It might sound crazy, but being a hard-working lawyer, fully committed to your clients, and thinking 24/7 exclusively in your files won't make your law practice grow.

Even if you are the most efficient, professional, and skilled lawyer in your region, your family law practice won't grow.

If you are that lawyer that only thinks about the files and ignores the rest, your law practice will turn into an expensive hobby. But luckily, there is something you can do to avoid it.

In this episode, I want to share with you what is the one thing to do to prevent your law practice from becoming an expensive (and not very fun) hobby.

Don’t Let This One Mistake Happen To You & Your Law Practice | Ep 22

podcast Oct 12, 2020

As we mentioned in previous episodes, delegating is vital to your business' growth. However, that doesn't mean you shouldn't be aware of your staff's daily operations.

It is necessary to be present in every detail, not as making photocopies or taking phone calls, but knowing precisely how much revenue, each staff member is producing.

For instance, in my law firm, my queen of operations runs all the numbers, and still, I'm aware of them, I absorbed them, and thanks to that, I know exactly where we are all the time, financially speaking.

In this episode, I want to share what happened to my law firm and me when I wasn't paying attention, so you can avoid it from happening to you.

Because Court Is Still Court! - Don't Make This Dumb And Avoidable Mistake! | Ep 21

podcast Oct 05, 2020

As we know, the assumption is the mother of all mistakes. We might be representing our clients differently, and still, some things in court will never change.

It happened to me last week when I attended this huge hearing, and an assumption ended up causing a delay in a case that was ready to be closed.

In this episode, I want to warn you about this dumb and avoidable mistake that can cost you lots of time and a waste of resources.

In this episode:

  • Back in court again after a long time [00:02:00]

In today's family law industry, managing your law practice is as crucial as getting your clients the best possible outcome.

At the same time, most divorce lawyers are so busy that they barely have time to breathe, let alone have a bird's eye view of their practice.
